What is Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy

To gain an understanding of Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy, you need to understand Munchausen Syndrome itself.   This is a condition in which a person inflicts an illness, injury, either real or made up on themselves, mainly for attention.   Munchausen by Proxy is when a parent causes injury, illness, or sickness to their child, according to experts, to gain attention.   Understanding Munchausen by Proxy The mind is a very complex creature, that is a fact, and when it comes to this condition it is no exception.   Munchausen can be a serious condition, and if not recognized, a child's life could be in danger.   This almost always affects mothers, very seldom is this condition in fathers.   The strange thing is, the moms love their children, and however the need for attention outweighs the concern for their child.   This condition usually affects intelligent people; it takes some thought and preparation to orchestrate a plan of action to fool even the best of doctors.

What is Cancer? And what are the types of Cancer?

The dreaded word.   How many of us have not been affected by a family member or friend that had or has cancer? Not many for sure.   The good news is that people, including the common patient, are becoming more and more educated on cancers each day. Although many are now treatable, some still have a long way to go, as they can often be fatal. Pancreatic Cancer Because of the location of the pancreas, pain is not often noticed until the tumor is large, and has spread.   This is a problem because by this time, it is almost always inoperable.   Chemotherapy may be offered; however, in most cases it extends life by only a short duration.   Radiation may help to control pain by lessening the size of the tumor; however, it would not serve as an option to cure.   Unfortunately the death rate for pancreatic cancer is high, in the 90 percent range.   For anyone that has a history of pancreatic cancer in the family, it is recommended this be discussed with your healthcare provider.   The

A Patient's Perspective

As nurses, sometimes we forget what it is like to not have a routine.   As a nurse, we run from room to room, doing routine procedures, and doing what is in the best interest for the care of our patients.   This obviously works, as nurses take care of a multitude of patients every year, and do a good job.   On occasion, do you ever wish you could see things from the eyes of a patient?   How do they feel, how do they see the nurses?   Patient A Patient A was admitted at 11:45 pm after spending 6 hours in the emergency department.   She had a severe headache, and was dizzy, unable to walk without holding something to maintain her balance.   At 53 years of age, doctors wanted to be sure she had not suffered from a stroke.   Patient A had been under the weather with a cold, and she was pretty sure her conditions were from that, however, her husband and doctors wanted to rule out something more serious.   Patient A was rolled into her room, and her stay began.      Related:

What to Consider When Preparing for Your First Dissection if You're Squeamish

The dissecting process is of course difficult, but it does get easier. Taking into consideration the emotional impact it might have, the key to overcoming dissection is to dissociate some thoughts and feelings you may have if you’re feeling squeamish about the process. Dissection comes from the Latin word – “dissecare”, which translates to "cutting into pieces”. Across the medical environment, it is described as the dissembling of organs in order to study and understand natural structure. The dissection process has been in place from several centuries and has enabled the medical representatives to explore human and animal bodies in terms of understanding the internal anatomy and develop possible cures and ways to prevent organs failure at a certain point.  It is important to mention the fact that the dissection procedure has been largely debated from different professionals in terms of moral concerns. There have also been different technological approaches in order to
