Happy Nurses Lead To Happy Patients

In the healthcare sector where in the quality of care is directly proportional to patient satisfaction, nurses play a very important role in keep up the metrics.  Nurses are healthcare providers working most closely with the patients, dealing with the physical, mental and emotional ailments of the patients and being by the side of the worried families.  They work day and night, standing on their feet for long hours and lifting heavy loads that eventually leads to their burnout and fatigue.

In any healthcare setup the nurses are at the forefront leading the hospital mission to reduce patient’s suffering and deliver constant care and support to ease the suffering.  The National database of nursing quality indicators provide continued evidences that show the relationship between quality nursing and patient outcomes.  The survey conducted includes participation from over 2,000 US hospitals and aims at measuring parameters like nursing quality, nurses job satisfaction levels, assessing the nurse work environment, assessing the staffing levels and improving reimbursements under current pay performance policies.

Hospitals that have higher number of satisfied nurses in turn have better patient satisfaction as happier nurses are able to pass on their satisfaction to the patients.  When the nurses get respected for their jobs from the health care setup, they feel more responsible towards their patients and they are able to engage with their patients better.

Nurses who are happy in their jobs are more found more attentive while on duty and the mistakes made are much lesser. which in turn improves their productivity.

Since, happy nurses result in happy patients it is important that healthcare setups pay attention to minute details that can better the life of the nurses working in the hospital resulting in better levels of satisfaction.
