5 Stress Relievers You Should Know About

Nursing is a stressful career. Dealing with all of that stress can be even more stressful than just feeling it. However, it is important to manage the day to day complications and hardships that you go through.

It can be hard enough to take care of yourself when your job focuses solely on the care of others. Stress can take a toll on your well being and might end up putting you in a position that is less than ideal for taking care of others. Taking care to relieve stress and ensure that you are healthy physically and mentally is just as important as doing your job. As a matter of fact, it is a part of doing your job. You are just as important as your patients are.

  • Identify Feelings
Naming feelings that arise can help you to work through them. Admit that there is a problem, and you will be on your way to relief. Use the compassion that you treat others with inwardly. Getting in touch with your inner feelings contributes to the coping mechanisms that one can use to continue dealing with stress.

  • Write
Many find that writing in a journal helps to put things into perspective. Journaling also allows you to take a look at yourself and evaluate the progress and changes that you have been making. Your professional and personal development will show within your writing.

  • Relax
Let yourself relax whenever you have the chance. It is not a luxury it is a right. If you do not allow yourself to let go and have fun, the stress will take over. Taking time off will improve your performance in the long run, and a battery recharge every once in a while will help to keep you sane. Maintaining a healthy emotional balance is important, especially when the stress of the workplace threatens to overwhelm you.

  • Bathroom
There is nothing wrong with taking a timeout in the bathroom when you need a moment. Take a time to care for your bowels and bladder and use it as a breather as well. Do some deep breathing exercises while you are on the toilet. This can be perfect for when you are feeling overwhelmed.
Take advantage of the times when you need to use the restroom. Use the rare moments that you get to yourself to think about something else. In other words, meditate while you use the toilet.

  • Eat
Do not let yourself go when it comes to eating. Your body needs food and water to get through the day, so do not deprive yourself no matter how busy you are. You will find a way to sneak healthy snacking into your daily tasks. Maintaining a healthy diet is super important to keeping stress at bay. Ensuring that you are nutritionally balanced can boost stamina, patience, and efficiency levels.

When it comes to stress, it can be easy to set it aside and focus on things that you deem more important. However, you are just as important as your daily tasks. If you are not at your best, you cannot do your best. Managing the stress that you feel day by day is critical to having a healthy mind and body and a successful career. Do not let yourself miss out on the stress relief that it needs.
