Healing Thoughts: Are they real?

Regardless of whether you are a spiritual person, it's common to hear someone say they are praying for a patient.   It's generally appreciated for the patient and family members to hear this. If you use social media, you will find that many times people ask for support for themselves, or a loved one that is ill.   Of course, social media is a catch-all for everything. Telling a person that they are in your thoughts and prayers is received as a kind gesture. It makes the patient and family member feel not so alone to know that others care about them and are thinking of them. That in itself can lift spirits.   Praying when ill or when a friend or a family member is unwell might be one of the most common of religious impulses. The three Abrahamic faiths of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam each encourage the practice. Approximately 60 percent of Muslims, 72 percent of Christians and 74 percent of Jews have prayed for "help with specific diseases," according to

How to Say No to Co-Workers and Demands on Your Time

It seems pretty easy, doesn’t it?   The word is “no”.   It's not as easy as it sounds for some people.   Many people have a hard time saying no when asked to do a favor, or anything. They just would rather go along and do something they either don’t have time to do, or don’t want to do, than to say that one simple word, no.   Some people will avoid what they consider confrontation at any expense, and that may involve saying no.   If you have a difficult time turning down requests for favors, practice saying no until it becomes easier to say. Your supervisor asks if you’re able to an extra shift, but the thing is, you can’t. You’re up to your ears in other projects and you like eating dinner before 10 pm with your family.   It can be a little intimidating to push back when your supervisor asks you to do something. Don’t give   the flat, “no” or an awkward, passive aggressive, “Well, umm, see I would, it’s just I’ve promised to do such and such.   Instead, try, “Thank you so much

Healthcare for Uninsured and Underinsured

Where does someone go that has lost their job, and has no insurance?   Resources may be limited.     The Facts of Uninsured Patients It may be surprising to hear, but currently 33 million Americans still have no insurance.   Nearly 9 million people gained insurance last year, a win for “Obamacare as the president’s signature health care law expanded Medicaid and opened health insurance exchanges. And yet, 33 million Americans , 10.4 percent of the U.S. population, still went without health insurance for the entirety of 2014. Millions more were uninsured for at least part of the year.   Information released this month shows they were disproportionately poor, black and Hispanic; 4.5 million of them were children.   It is not a surprise that some Americans still do not   have health insurance. Despite aiming to insure everyone in the U.S., the Affordable Care Act left significant gaps in coverage, and decisions made by the law’s opponents have denied benefits to millions

Balancing Home & Work

Today's busy lives don't leave much time for much, other than work, home, and what has to get done.   Is it possible to create a perfect balance of home and work?   Expert organizers say yes.   Organize at Home If you take your next two off days and organize things at home, you will end up with much more time on workdays, it is worth it if you always feel the day ends with your to do list undone.   Start with your closet .   Organize scrub tops with matching pants and pair together.   Put similar colors together so they are easy to locate.   If you wear shirts under scrub tops, place them with the scrubs, it will save time when you are getting ready.   Organize kids closets and drawers as well.   For children that are dressing themselves, use a color code system.   Using fabric markers of various colors, do green on the pants and green on the matching shirt.   Just place the small green dot inside of the garment, and teach kids to match the dots.
