Patient Feedback on Nursing Care - International Nurses Association

Do you ever wonder what your patients actually think of you or the other nurses? A survey was done to ask that very question of patients in various hospitals around the country. Answers are by patients.
Do you think most nurses enjoy doing what they are doing?
-          I think about 80 percent do. I think a few are burnt out and should consider retiring.

-          I think about 60 percent do. I think some nurses have a desire to be a doctor instead, but needed to cut the education time down.
-         I believe 95 percent of all nurses love their jobs.
Would you rather have a male or female nurse?
-          Being female, I always preferred a female nurse.  As I’ve gotten older it does not matter.

-          No difference to me at all
-         I think because I’m male, a male nurse would be more in touch with my issues.
When hospitalized, how would you rate your treatment by the nurses on a scale of 1-10, 10 being highest?

-          9- The nurses were all pretty good to me, except one and she was filling in.
-          9- I had excellent care from the nurses.
-          10- The nurses made my stay tolerable.

What did a nurse do that you feel was beyond the call of duty?
-          My nurse talked with me extensively, and we became friends. I told her about my adopted mother and how I had looked for her over the years. The following day the nurse brought me a name of a private investigator that specialized in similar cases.  Long story short, he reconnected with my brother and my biological mom, all thanks to my nurse.

-          The nurse that cared for me gave me a book about weight, and the best ways to get on a track to being healthy. It worked. I went back to see him 6 months later to show off the 40 pounds id lost.

When hospitalized, how quickly did a nurse respond when you needed something?
-          Usually pretty quick, depending on how busy they were.
-          Not very fast, I think they get tired of hearing that call button buzz
-          Quickly, and if they could not come right away they always apologized.
Based on your nursing care when hospitalized, would you utilize that hospital if one was needed?

-          Without a doubt
-          Probably, but it would depend on the doctor
-          Yes, the nurses provided great care
Do you think most nurses actually care about the patient?
-         I think that totally depends on the patient
-         Yes, if the patient is polite and not overly demanding
-         Yes, otherwise they would choose a different profession.
-         I think it depends on the patient
Do you think nurses worry about germs and contracting disease?
-         I don’t see how they could avoid being concerned
-          Maybe in the beginning of their career
-          Probably some, but I don’t think they dwell on it

Do you think nursing is a good career choice?
-          For the right person, yes
-          For sure, it has job security and good salary.
-          If you enjoy that type of work, Yes.
It was nice to review the surveys and see that for the most part the patients were satisfied with the care they received from their nurse. There are very few complaints toward nurses, which is a good indication that most nurses are devoted to their career. Patient satisfaction surveys are important, and used to ensure quality care for patients. For the most part, they are given at random, and always on a volunteer basis. Surveys are used to improve the care of patients, and to ensure all nurses are doing a satisfactory job with patients.  This particular random survey throughout the country was proof positive; nurses are doing a great job.

Positive and Negative of Dental Implants

Dental implants are very popular today. They are the preferred choice by many when natural teeth are missing.   Commercials make dental implants sound very simple, and as if they always work, but everyone should know the facts prior to considering implants. As a nurse, you may encounter a patient who is interested in dental implants, whether it is because of an accident or for cosmetic reasons. The Positive of Dental Implants Dental implants can, and often do work out well for someone missing teeth.   They look natural, and unlike dentures, they are permanent, and do not have to be removed nightly.    Dentures can fit improperly at times, and that is not an issue with implants.   There are some great advantages to dental implants. Where do Registered Nurses Work?

Registered nurses are needed far and wide, and there dispersal amongst various facilities is illuminating.   Commonly, you associate nurses with hospitals, but their expertise is needed in a plethora of environments.   An overwhelming amount of nurses, (60% to be exact) operate in hospitals.   Comparing this percentage to the mere 5% working in nursing homes, RN’s have disseminated into non-governmental and EDU positions, as well as employment facilities and doctor’s offices.    Related : 2016 INTERNATIONAL NURSES ASSOCIATION (INA) SCHOLARSHIP AWARD Visit www.nurseadvisormagazine.com for more information on nursing.
